Crate Train your Olde English Bulldogge

There are many schools of thought on your bulldog and crate trainings. It really depends on the life that you live. An Olde English Bulldogge puppy needs to be let out at regular intervals to goto the bathroom. All puppies have to be trained to do so, some are easier then others.
An Olde English Bulldogge puppy will like to chew as much as the next pup. In my experience the Olde English's love to chew more then most so expect some casulties in sneakers, boots and chair cushions.
I've heard from time to time owners that think crate training is bad. Well, in nature dogs are used to dens and such and it's just natural. Now if your inhumane and leave the Bulldogge their for long amount of times would be cruel. If your gone long periods have a friend or neighbor let your bulldogge out, your little buddy will appreciate it and you'll feel better about it.
The puppy is going to want to be with you and remember, nothing will beat the time you give a bulldogge. 10 min of quality training time a day will give phenominal results but it must be good training time with the pup. The attention span is short so make it fun for your bulldogge.
A crate must be of correct size so you'll need one for when he's little and he'll outgrow it. You don't want the dog in an excessively large crate that he deficates in and feel comfortable in because it feels to him like it's the Holiday in. At the same time you want the crate to not be excessively small. Each Bulldogge can vary in size depending on who your bought it from.
Introduce your Bulldogge to the crate and keep the crate open. Let him be familiar with it and never associate the crate with punishment. The Bulldogge will also find this as his home and safe haven- you'll see! He will learn to love it in time and he may go in there even when your home! Keep the crate close to the room that you spend the most time in. So the Bulldogge feels like he's with the family. Let him explore the cage on his own and put a toy or treat in it. After a while he wont be afraid of it as long as you don't lock him in like its a jail. Give him praise when he goes in and tell him he's a good Bulldogge! Once you feel he's comefortable with his crate now you can move to the next step. Let your Bulldogge stay in his crate for 10 min or so at first a few times a day. Increase the time and remember the Bulldogge puppy has a small bladder and will not be able to hold it long so don't expect too much from him- be fair.
Always remember that when you come home from a long day and the dog is in a crate, take great care in warming the dog up before excercising him/her. The dog will be very excited and just having all that energy and bursting outside can lead to an accident. They are just like us and it's best to warm up before excercise. The best thing you can do is walk your Bulldogge outside and after some time let him run if you have a fenced yard. That will protect your Bulldogge from accidental injury.
