As the Olde English Bulldogge exists today you can see some differences in lines by different breeders

The Olde English Bulldogge is an intent to create the original 18 century Bulldog minus the aggression. The 19th century bulldog is closer to the modern day bulldog then the 18th. The 18th Century bulldog was an athletic bulldog capeable of breeding and breeding on its own. A strong willed and courageous animal that was capeable of competing in the bullbaiting events.

David Leavitt harvested scattered information of the time periods and studied them in his effort to recreate this animal. It is that same spirit and dedication that we as breeders continue striving to produce the best possible dog we can by modeling old pictures and sculptures. Here is a pictures worth a 1000 words.. In the following pictures of Classic  OEB's you'll an 18th century body style quite different from the 19th century style.  The performance line differs from the classic style as it has a leaner, tighter design.
